El escapista (The escapist)
A new resident comes to the neighborhood, a mysterious man everyone talks about. In the opinion of some he is the world-famous magician and escape artist Harry Houdini. The main character and narrator of the novel has a particular reason for wanting to meet this newcomer: he too wants to be a magician. He manages to convince the great Houdini to teach him magic, but also receives much advice that he will follow for the rest of his life.
The narrator will experience adventures around the neighborhood with Houdini by his side, they will help other people and most especially the dogs in the neighborhood. Did Houdini ever come to the neighborhood? Did he really do magic there? These are the questions the narrator must answer, questions which often have nothing to do with magic. At the same time, he, like any real illusionist, must promise not to reveal the secret he has learned from the great Houdini.
