To mark the celebration of four decades of its history, the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) has unveiled 26 en el 26, a selection of 26 novelists aged 40 and under who are helping to reshape literature in Spanish.
The initiative aims to provide a snapshot of the directions contemporary fiction is taking, while also serving as a commercial and critical catalyst for a generation of writers born between 1986 and 2000. According to the Guadalajara International Book Fair, their work “expands the horizons of the contemporary novel in our language”. As part of FIL 2026, Gabriel Mamani Magne and Luciana Sousa will take part in a programme of nine panel discussions addressing some of the key challenges facing the contemporary novel: the fragmentation of attention in the digital age, new forms of reading, and the circulation of literary works between Latin America and Spain.
