Martín and his mother, an artist who is a bit punk and a bit hippie (as he likes to describe her), are forced to look for a cheaper place to rent. They end up moving into “La Casa,” a squat in an abandoned three-story building.

In this communal space, they live alongside many other families, and Martín befriends Vladi, an orphaned boy who is building a go-kart to compete in a race.

Meanwhile, his mother suggests to the other occupants that they paint the house, embellishing the old, peeling walls with artistic drawings.

A moving novel that also shares Martín’s encounter with estrangements, which, as his friend Vladi taught him, consist of looking at something you have always known, but with different eyes.
