In 1910, the city of Buenos Aires is preparing for the celebrations of the nation’s first centenary.

Under this facade of prosperity and celebration, Alejandro, a young journalist, receives an assignment as sinister as it is disturbing: to unravel the mystery of the disappearance of five children, an event that occurred more than two decades earlier.

The investigation plunges the protagonist into an atmosphere of psychological horror and suspense. In his search, Alejandro encounters a young woman stripped of her identity and memories; a man whose psyche has been reduced to canine behavior; and with a young man scarred by extreme violence, turned murderer.

These elements converge in a plot of manipulation and experimentation that culminates in a deeply disturbing denouement, challenging the conventions of the traditional young adult genre.

I haven’t read such a good book for way too long. A deep, disturbing novel. Gemma Lluch
