She is a translator into Spanish of authors such as Sharon Olds, Lydia Davis, Lorrie Moore, Mavis Gallant and Jamaica Kincaid, amongst others. She coordinates literary workshops.

She is the first Latin American author to win the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis, one of the most prestigious prizes for young adult literature in Europe, for her novel Piedra, papel o tijera. Her books are read in schools across Spain and Latin America. She holds frequent meetings with her readers, both in person and online.

She has been compared to Marguerite Duras and Natalia Ginzburg. Her work has been translated into English, German, French, Dutch, Russian and Italian, amongst others.
