The novel follows the story of Tadeo, a teenager who grows up in a family dominated by violence, silence, and fear. From an early age, he lives in the shadow of his brothers: Jano, marked by a mental illness that the family prefers to deny rather than face, and an older brother whose cruelty manifests itself in power games that border on torture, within a home where conflict and pain are rarely mentioned.
While trying to understand the mystery surrounding Jano and survive this climate of anger, neglect, and family secrets, Tadeo meets Vera, a girl who comes from a world very different from his own.
Through this connection, he discovers other ways of living, loving, and relating to the world, which opens up the possibility of escaping the cycle of fear and violence that has marked his childhood.
With an intimate and reflective gaze, the novel explores anger, family pain, mental illness, and the search for affection and meaning, showing how even in contexts of darkness, there is room for love, hope, and the opportunity for transformation.
It is a novel that does not shield the reader, but rather accompanies them. And that is precisely why it endures. Erica Tonin, Sunflowers Road
