Las Marías de Los Toldos
She was asked to write a biography of Eva Perón. She said no. They asked her again and she refused. In 2011, when her work finally circulated in bookstores, Aurora Venturini presented herself as one of the few people with life and memory capable of telling us something new about Eva.
From the day she received her award for Las primas in December 2007, until her death in 2015, she had taken care to maintain a very close relationship with her former boss. Although it is impossible to place Las Marías de Los Toldos, as she insisted to her editors, in the spectrum of biography, it is clear that she proposes a phantasmatic genealogy and a hallucinated answer to the main questions that the figure of Eva Perón provokes among followers and detractors.
What was this woman made of? What led her to become what she became? What force moved her to be all that she was? Why was her corpse so frightening? Will she come back?
